• I loved this book. Goldeline speaks with such a distinct, bold voice, and the world is painted with such mystery.... the back cover copy just says that magic is speaking stories, or something like that, and that comes across in the book. Such a light touch to it that you can hardly separate the sense of magic from managing to live life and find what you love. A simple, charming book full of vivid and plain emotions.
• This is a wonderful book. While the world was mysterious, the storytelling felt relaxed and natural, and the book was fun to read from beginning to end. I loved the imagination throughout the story. The characters were distinct and memorable, and even the bad ones invoked sympathy. I love stories like this that have a main character who thinks she wants something more than anything in the world, searches for it, finds it, is devastated, then unexpectedly discovers what she's been looking for all along.
• A wonderful story that will stick with for long after you read it. Goldeline is truly delightful. The story comes to life right off of the pages. 10/10 would read again
• Thoroughly enjoyed this piece of perfectly appropriate YA fiction, a captivating journey through magical woods with the white-haired Goldeline and her own band of merrymakers. Captivatingly written and wonderfully imagined, teenaged readers to adults will enjoy it.

• Couldn't even finish this book. I found the first few references to Goldeline being a "good girl" by all the older men odd, but I kept reading. Mistake. It just gets more and more inappropriate. The author mentions a male character having an affair with a 19 year old woman (he's 40ish). The men are always commenting on Goldeline's appearance (you're gonna get fat, you're a pretty little thing), calling her a "minx" (look up that word if you're not sure) and the one that calls her that has a "nasty mind". Then yet another bad man will make her "do everything I say." The author sounds like a real creeper and I wouldn't want kids reading this book.

• I’m not typically into Middle Grade books, but this was an exception for me. I don’t remember what drew me to this title, I believe I saw a review somewhere, but it could have just been featured on a TBR post. I picked it up not really knowing what to expect, but finding myself pleasantly surprised with what I found.
  
  Goldeline is a quick read that’s easy to power through, but contains a lot of heavy content. I was really surprised to see the age range was 10+ considering the themes present. There was a decent amount of violence and death, as well as some spooky scenes. The MC, Goldeline, really went through a lot of traumatic stuff!
  
  I find that it can be difficult to find books with young MCs that aren’t written in an infantile way, but the author pulls off Goldeline’s inner voice wonderfully. The narration is naive and childlike without becoming unreadable. The relationships between the characters were great, and there was even a M/M couple, which was nice to see.
  
  Overall, I thought Goldeline was a nice read and would recommend it to anyone interested. It’s quick to get through and tells a unique story.
